A studio illustration for a story on summer grilling. So, this one was a lot of fun. The key light is above and a bit behind the steak and grill. Underneath, pointed up toward the camera was another light covered in a red gel to simulate the red-hot briquettes. Balancing the two was a little tricky. Then I burned the corn with a little torch, softened the butter pad with a blow dryer and heated a steel rod to sear the "grill marks" on the steak. Finally, I rolled the edges of the briquettes in flour to give the impression of a hot grill. This one was on 4X5 Fujichrome Velvia film. |
