An illustration for a feature on the local symphony musicians in Greeley, Colorado. I really enjoyed making this picture. Like all my studio work, it was well before Photoshop was available. This image was two exposures on the same frame of Fujichrome Velvia 50. The violin and hand were shot with a pretty extreme side lit soft box. Then I had to punch a hole in a black paper backdrop with another light behind it. Then line it up perfectly so it appeared the starburst was between the gloved fingers. I used a cross screen filter to get the light to "burst." Shot lots of film before I got it all just so. |
