San Ildefonso Pueblo, in the Tewa language, "P'ohwhogeh Ówîngeh," translates to "village of the place where the water cuts through." The people of the pueblo are a federally recognized tribe, established around 1300 AD. As of the 2020 census, San Ildefonso Pueblo had a population of 624.
The pueblo people are from the Tewa ethnic group of Native Americans.
